Day 2

Anuradhapura > Trincomalee

 2 hours

Trincomalee

Visit the Trincomalee town, Hindu temple

Trincomalee is one of the largest natural harbors in Sri Lanka, so naturally it has attracted a lot of attention. In their records, the Portuguese referred to the bay as “Bahia dos Arcos,” noting its significance as a potential control point over the entire Gulf of Bengal due to its proximity to Indian Ocean trade routes.

Like the Portuguese, Admiral Lord Nelson believed the great trading post would be successful. In an increasingly globalized and Asian-dominated world, this is certainly possible. Trincomalee is currently popular among tourists looking for a peaceful getaway in Sri Lanka.

Nilaveli is a nearly 30-kilometer long stretch of beach that extends north from Trincomalee. Unique pink boulders can be found on Red Rock Beach, an estuary close to Nilaveli. Pigeon Island is close by, and it has some great coves where the Blue Rock pigeon likes to hang out. Visitors to Sri Lanka’s beaches can relax in the shade and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Day 4

Trincomalee > Pasikuda

Pasikuda

Relax on the beach

Batticaloa is flanked by the stunning beaches of Pasikuda and Kalkuda, like two lovely ladies guarding a dowager queen. Located on the eastern coast of Sri Lanka, Batticaloa is home to a beautiful beach and lagoon.

The singing fish of the picturesque lagoon are said to be responsible for the lilting sound heard on moonlit nights. One fascinating cultural aspect is the small but dedicated group of people who are descended from Portuguese soldiers and who speak a Creole Portuguese dialect that is said to be similar to Medieval Portuguese.

Pasikuda Beach has a number of crescent-shaped coves that resemble the polished blade of a sickle.

You must climb 1200 steps before reaching the lion’s rock fortress on Sigiriya. Sigiriya is about 200 meters in height.

As all good things must come to an end. Your chauffeur guide will comfortably take you back to the international airport for a safe return journey.
